Restorative Dental Care in Acworth Gets You Smiling Again

Teeth that are in good condition can last a lifetime. However, when infection or a cavity strikes, prompt restorative treatment is critical to preserving your smile. Depending on your situation, our dentists provide a wide selection of restorative options to choose from.

Hillside Family Dentistry provides comprehensive restorative treatments for all ages.

From treating small cavities to full-mouth rehabilitation, we offer numerous restorations to consider, such as:

Dental Fillings

Composite fillings are made from durable yet attractive material that matches the color of your natural smile. Since composite bonds closely to your tooth structure, these fillings are significantly smaller and more conservative than traditional amalgam (silver) versions.

Our composite fillings come in many shades, and are matched to your tooth so you won’t see them when you’re smiling.

Protective Dental Crowns

Dental crowns are used when teeth are too damaged or decayed to support smaller fillings. Or if you’ve recently had a root canal completed. These lab-made restorations last for years and restore normal function to your smile. Hillside Family Dentistry uses materials like zirconium, porcelain fused to metal, and Emax crowns for impeccable aesthetics as well as durability. Each crown can be matched to your natural smile so it blends in with your surrounding teeth.

Getting a dental crown usually requires two separate visits. At the first one, Dr. Ada will numb and prep your tooth to remove the compromised areas of enamel. Then we take an impression for our lab and cover the tooth with a temporary crown. About two weeks later, you’ll return to our Acworth dental office to have your permanent crown bonded in place.

With the right care and maintenance, your new “cap” can last for several years.

Inlays and Onlays

Inlays and onlays are like a partial dental crown that is custom-made to fit a particular tooth. However, it covers a smaller area than a full crown does. Typically, an inlay or onlay covers or fills in only one-third to three-quarters of the tooth. This leaves a greater amount of enamel intact, preserving the broken or worn area rather than further reducing the amount of tooth structure in those areas. Some people refer to them as “three-quarter crowns” because of the similarity they hold to more familiar lab-made restorations.

Dr. Ada will recommend an inlay or onlay if your tooth is too compromised for a filling, but doesn’t quite need the full protection of a “cap.”

Fixed Dental Bridges

Dental bridges make it easy to replace one or more teeth at a time. Bridges can be used if there are healthy teeth on either side of the missing one, or if there is an implant on either side of that space. A bridge typically has 3-4 crowns fused together where either end is set on top of a tooth or dental implant. Together, they suspended the artificial crown(s) over the open space to replace the missing tooth/teeth.

Bridges are helpful with the adjacent teeth could benefit from a protective crown, or as an alternative to dental implant placement.

Root Canal Therapy

Dr. Ada wants to make sure your natural tooth is as healthy and functional for as long as possible. Whether you are suffering from tooth pain, severe decay, or painful abscess, we have numerous restorative options to assist you. But sometimes, you need more than a simple filling or crown. Especially when there is advanced diseased present and the nerve of the tooth becomes involved.

Hillside Family Dentistry offers in-house root canal treatment (endodontic therapy,) rather than referring you to an outside specialist. The more efficient care experience is better for most of our patients, as it reduces costs and the number of appointments required.

Full and Partial Dentures

It can be difficult to eat a balanced diet, speak clearly, smile, and even have the ability to talk on the phone if you have several missing teeth. To compensate, many of us chew on one side of the mouth, where teeth are still healthy. But even this habit can cause excess wear to the healthy teeth or TMJ problems from the asymmetrical motion.

Dentures are one of the most economical and straightforward methods to replace all of your teeth at one time. Partial dentures can also be used to replace missing teeth and preserve the healthy teeth you still have. Dr. Ada also offers snap-in denture options that are supported by dental implants.

Custom Treatment Plans

When your smile requires restorative care, Dr. Ada will present each appropriate treatment to consider, then discuss the advantages of each one. Together, we’ll plan a map toward a healthier, functional smile. Call us today to reserve your next dental exam!
